Witkin Design Group Retained to Design Exterior Environment for Major Mixed-Use Development in Doral
Witkin Design Group, of North Miami Beach, has been retained by EB Developers, Inc., of Boca Raton, to design the exterior environment for a major mixed-use community being developed in Doral.
Landmark at Doral will be located at 107th Avenue and NW 58th Street. It will utilized the Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) concept which has been supported by the City of Doral and jurisdictions across the country as an antidote to suburban sprawl. Landmark at Doral will integrate residential, commercial and retail components in a way that encourages a “live where you work” lifestyle and de-emphasizes automobile use. It is one of four TNDs currently being developed in Doral. Witkin Design Group will be designing exterior environments for all four TNDs.
The residential component of Landmark at Doral will include 787 units in 92 buildings (two-story townhome buildings and three-story condominium buildings), with parks and clubhouse amenities. Valle Valle & Partners, of Coral Gables, is the architect for the northern residential component. (more)
The commercial component will include 10, five-story buildings with retail on the first floor, offices on the second and residential on the third, fourth and fifth. There will also be a parking garage which will accommodate more than 900 cars. REG Architects, Inc., of West Palm Beach is designing the commercial buildings.
Overall design theme for Landmark at Doral will be a balance of Mediterranean, Dutch Caribbean and Florida Vernacular. Witkin Design Group will design landscaping, hardscapes and exterior lighting to complement those building design themes. They will also design the irrigation system to support a lush environment in the community’s parks and other open spaces. Favio Perez is WDG’s Project Manager for Landmark at Doral.
Groundbreaking is expected to begin the first quarter of 2006 with completion of the first buildings in fall, 2006. Completion of the entire project is estimated at three years.
